Apparently...
I tried to weigh in on your last post via comment, but it must not have been intriguing enough to merit a response from anyone. I'm not sure Caleb can read anyway.

question to consider
In chapter 2 Piper makes the point that prayer is not "THE" work of missions, proclaiming the word of God is. Here's something I'd like to hear some discussion on. Is it possible that we are raising a generation of young people whose whole concept of missions is wrong? There are so many "mission trips" that involve working on houses or prayerwalking and stuff like that without much (if any) emphasis on proclaiming the Word. I'm not saying it's wrong for people to go on these trips and that good doesn't come from them. I'm just raising the question for discussion. What do you guys think?

Chapter 1
Piper really wanted to hammer in the fact that everything is for Gods glory. When I first realized that this was mainly what the first chapter was about, I thought to myself "duh". However, after he started to break this down from several different angles my mood started to change. I started to realize that even though I already know that everything is for Gods glory, I don't always live my life like I know this fact. My favorite part of this chapter was when Piper brought out the biblical texts to show God's zeal for His own glory. He explained how this is possible so it was easy to understand. After reading the first chapter I couldn't agree more that this was the perfect place to set the table for a book on missions. Remember, "God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in him".

Theory
After reading half of the first chapter, I am further confirmed in my theory that if you read Desiring God, you have already read just about every John Piper book. (Not to say it's bad, but there's obviously repetition).

did you know?
The original title for this book was "Let the Nations be Gay" but the publishers decided to change it.
